Collins 212A-1

The Collins Radio 212A-1 Speech input console. Containing two program amplifiers, this console allowed auditioning or rehearsing, cueing, and broadcasting simultaneously from any combination of two studios, an announce booth, a control room announce mic, two turntables, and nine remote lines. Awsome for the late 40's!

A novel rotating arrangement allowed the entire unit to be tilted for access to the underside of the chassis (while in operation) without requiring any additional space. Rated within 2dB from 30-15,000 Hz with less than 1.0% rms harmonic distortion.

This console pioneered broadcast studio ergonomics with a sloping panel. 42"w X 12"h X 17.5" d. Approximately 150 pounds. The external power supply was rack-mounted.
